KCDF launches its Strategic Plan 2014 - 2018. |
Through the implementation of three strategic plans since inception, the achievements of KCDF are significant and have been built on lessons from our work with communities. Previous strategic plans spanned 3 years. With confidence in what has been achieved so far, the current plan looks further to the future taking in a five year outlook from 2009 to 2013. |

During the period 2011-2012, KCDF continued to witness tremendous growth in its programme work and partnerships. During the year, KCDF deepened its work in new geographical and development areas of work, partnering on the Garissa Youth Project with Education Development Centre on a 13 months project seeking to empower youth through life skills. Similarly, KCDF deepened its work with urban communities in Nairobi, building capacity for livelihoods and economic empowerment of vulnerable groups. |

|
KCDF is happy to note that 2009/2010 was better and marked improvements were realised. Our grants to community work increased from Kshs. 37,465,899 (US$499,545) to Kshs. 41,882,296 (US$ 530,000). The number of community organisations we work with increased from 123 to 133, while the total number of households that we impact increased from 1.05 Million to 1.7 Million. The overall programme turnover increased from Kshs 98.6 Million (US$ 1.3 Million) to Kshs 102 Million US$ 1.36 Million). These changes can be attributed to increased fundraising. |
|
Despite the difficulties associated with this period, KCDF was able to achieve its set targets. As part of our contribution to peace building and reconciliation initiatives, the organization identified strategic partners in the most affected regions (mainly Rift valley, Western and Nyanza) and provided grants support to the tune of US$270,000 dollars to support peace building and local economic recovery. In addition, more than US$60,000 was given to communities to address food security challenges in the most affected regions of Eastern Province and Southern Rift valley. Overall, KCDF made a total of 123 grants to communities across Kenya and provided 235 scholarships. |
|
KCDF recognizes the role played by Early Childhood Development (ECD) in community and national development because it not only improves the situation of young children but is also a sustainable development strategy, integral to overall community development.

COMMUNITY PHILANTHROPY: THE JOURNEY OF KCDF'S PAMOJA 4 CHANGE PROJECT ![]() |
KCDF coined the project Pamoja for Change (P4C) which essentially connotes a process of entrenching local giving by community members and other entities through coming together to resolve their development challenges. This programme was well aligned to KCDF’s theory of change which seeks to put the communities at the heart of identifying their own development challenges and coming up with home grown solution including financial solutions to respond to the development need while seeking very little or no external help from outside their catchment. This has been a proven concept in KCDF’s perspectives of sustainable community development. |
